Project Revision

Introduction

On the basis of the reviewers report of the results obtained along the first year (2002), the consortium undertook the development of a series of points of action in the beginning of the second year (2003).

First, the project goal was redefined to focus on

  • the exploration of the fundamentals of quantum nanomagnets, and
  • the development of measurement tools for them.

Cooperation within the Consortium and with other external groups was strengthen.

The work on micro-SQUIDs and micro-Hall devices was updated to take into account the state-of-the-art of the field.

The pioneering work on optical measurements of the magnetic properties of small clusters and the coupling between nanomagnets and high Q microwave cavitieswas considered to be pursued further.

The following sections describe the new actions to be taken under each workpackage during the second and third years.
