Our first attempts in depositing isolated molecules shown that it is possible to have isolated Mn12 molecules on different substrates by using pure chemical deposition ideas. We have seen these isolated molecules performing atomic force microscopy (AFM) and analyzing magnetic data. One of the most important aspects is that molecules are deposited onto the substrate with their c axis lying in the plane of the substrate. This is a point to which we will devote a large effort in the next months. This workpackage will be done in close collaboration between the CSIC-ICMABand UB groups, and requires of the knowledge and particular experience of each group. The CSIC-ICMAB group will enforce the preparation of molecular clustersaccording to their experience, whereas the UB group will contribute with his experience and equipment on different magneto-optical techniques. More precisely, here, we will complete the magneto-optical studies, either by Kerr effect and Magneto Circular Dichroism (MCD), developed along the first year. If available, we will also explore the possibility of studying such effects on individual or most likely on aggregates of different molecules deposited on a surface by anoptical probe.
